Teulada, at a cursory glance, may be seen simply as another impoverished village in the south of Italy. Yet, nearby the town a mazy scrawl of dirt tracks. These are the etchings of tanks and military vehicles, which scour the land as they repeatedly roll over 7200 hectares of vegetation inside a military base. These markings can be seen as the traces of the spatial mutilation that people from Teulada have experienced. Para means alongside, beyond and by extension altered, defective. This project is meant to explore how the military made the place 'para' for its inhabitants.
