In the late 80s a new genre of Cuban popular dance music crystallized in Havana. It became known as timba. It is a hybrid genre that combines elements of local musical traditions of Afro-Cuban rumba and son, Afro-Latin popular styles such as salsa as well as African-American jazz and funk. This documentary is a story about the musicians of NG La Banda which back in the 80s was one of the most important timba bands. The close observation of the musicians' work, however, becomes the ground for exploring the Cuban reality and the challenges musicians and other artists face.
