Bleja, Beer and Bombs
This project endeavours to explore the knock-on effects of war and conflict in Serbia, that manifest themselves in a vast array of moral, mental, social, institutional, economic and political repercussions. With focus on the internal stories and narratives of Serbian youth, Doncic look to understand how these repercussions affect the psyche of a generation, their chances at a successful and fulfilling life, and how they negotiate the circumstances and processes in which they reclaim their value and influence in the world. This project adopts an auto-ethnographic method as it is based in Doncic's hometown Smederevo, a small city in the heart of Serbia. By engaging in an essayistic school of practice, the project will culminate with a documentary that explores what it is to be a generation living in the wake of conflict.
